For Bird #1

I am fortunate to live in a rural area, with a river close by. This gives one an opportunity to enjoy nature and also see many unique critters. And while I have had my run in with the rodents, most critters tend to themselves and that's fine by Norm. Canadian geese seem to be returning in greater numbers this year. The honking call of this water fowl usually represents the beginning of spring or fall.(Coming or going.) And when their hatchlings appear, even the hardened heart of this old coot melts!

Here we see several standing on what's left of a funky winter ice. Several are trying to keep warm, while the rebel is taking an icy swim. (Actually they were all swimming the moment before the shot, but work with me here!!) I'll try and post shots of the offspring when they appear.

The Elvis Room #2

I forgot how hard this is. These photos really don't do any justice to the actual floor that is beginning to emerge from the hours of sanding. But trust me, there is some decent tone under the 170+ years of human wear. The maple center is proving particularily difficult. It is a very hard wood, and it's the ground dirt i am trying to get out. There is no finish on this section of the floor. The outer edge is oak, and really is looking nice. Norm is sore.

The Elvis Room #1

Originally this area was called The Elvis Room. There was an old wooden stereo hi-fi that still worked left behind by the Smiths. I had some old velvet Elvis portraits and a bunch of album covers I hung everywhere. I would mix drinks and hang-out listening to The King. But now work continues on the renovation. The wall is almost ready to be closed, as I ran a line to the box today. Also you can see the floors need to be finished. The wood in the next room is commonly called Pumpkin Pine. It is a wide board wood found in really old homes. That's orange color is the finished tone. The wood below is oak, with maple in the center. I am renting the sander this Wednesday!! Wish Norm luck!!

Big Buddy

This Great Dane lives over the river and through the woods. And despite the hefty chain his owner puts on him, he always breaks free and hangs out at my pad. He's in love with my beagle. It's a Brokeback kinda of love, as my dog is also a male. But despite his size, this Dane is a sweetheart. I always give him a cookie and let him stay awhile before I call his owner.

Hey Everybody!!

I am thinking spring has sprung. It is a bit warmer today, but the light is the real clue. It just feels brighter. We really didn't have much snow here in the Northeast this winter. But it did get pretty cold. Here's a picture from one of the bigger storms we had. Hope it's sunny and bright where you are.
